"Secret" Worshipper
"Secret Worshipper" = Assessing Sunday worship.
I came to your church last Sunday as a "secret worshipper". Lifelong friends brought my wife and I to share in your service. They were excited to share with us their new church. We came to worship God and to listen to the teaching of God’s word with openness of heart and a willingness to obey the voice of God spirit. The vitality of worship in song drew us to focus on God. The passion of the preacher for his message caused us to listen attentively. Would you like to know what we experienced?
Whether you are a part of a startup church, a larger medium-sized church of 250-500, or a mega church, you need actionable awareness of what people experience on Sunday morning. When potential worshippers are seeking God or searching for a place to worship, what do they experience? If these worshippers were given a voice to share with you what they've experienced or give you feedback would you listen to them and reflect on what they say?
In evaluating what happens on Sunday morning you need to ask yourself two questions:
1) What matters to you? Is it Christ's mission for your church? Or, is it Christ's mission plus your preferences? Have you owned Christ's mission as the only filter through which you evaluate all you do?
2) Are you committed to executing that mission with excellence...to being the best you can be as a speaker, as a pastor, and as a ministry team?
If so, you will not only need prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit. You will need to be committed to measuring what matters. No pastor or ministry will be the best they can be without continual evaluation! That is what the "secret worshipper" evaluation is all about.
This link takes you to Assessing Sunday Worship questionnaire. Step back to assess your own Sunday morning ministry and to step forward to an even greater ministry of excellence. If you and your key ministry leaders answer these questions with openness and honestly we believe that with God’s help your ministry will improve.
